The Ministry of Defence on 09.08.2020 Sunday announced a list of over 101 items that would be banned for import beyond the time indicated against them. Union Defence Minister Shree Rajnath Singh asserted that this step would move India and its defence sector inch closer to become self-reliant.
While making the announcement through a series of tweets, Shree Rajnath Singh Ji, said that it is estimated that contracts worth almost Rs 4 lakh crore will be placed upon the domestic industry within the next six to seven years.
He continued saying that out of these, items worth almost Rs 1,30,000 crore each are anticipated for the Army and the Air Force while items worth almost Rs 1,40,000 crore are anticipated by the Navy over the same period.
